Jumhuri Mudara: The offices for the coordination of humanitarian affairs (OCHA) of the United Nations says that a lack of United Nations says that a lack of funding has impacted the process of delivering humanitarian aid to the people of Afghanistan.

Previously, international aid organizations expressed concerns over the shortage of funds for providing humanitarian assistance to the Afghan population and warned that this situation could leave thousands deprived of aid.

OCHA recently announced that due to budget shortfalls, sectors such as education, food, health, nutrition, and shelter will be affected over the next months from January to march 2025.

Aid organizations have repeatedly stated that due to reduced funding, they are unable to provide the necessary assistance to thousands of people in Afghanistan.

The United Nations officers for the coordination of humanitarian affairs reported that 14.8 million people, approximately one-third of Afghanistan’s total population, are in need of food and agricultural assistance in the current year.

According to OCHA, the lack of funding also delays the local procurement process for specific relief items, requiring additional time and resources for transportation, which is critical in itself.

These comes after OCHA reported about a month ago that 22.9million people in Afghanistan will continue to need humanitarian assistance in coming year.
