Jumhuri Mudara: the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) has emphasized that the Taliban’s restrictions on women causing long term harm in the country.
On Tuesday, February 18, UNAMA released a report in which Rosa Otunbayeva, the head of UNAMA, called for more constructive discussions regarding the situation of women in Afghanistan.
In this report, UNAMA stated that Afghanistan is currently witnessing extensive restrictions on women in educations, employment, and access to healthcare services, which have seriously affected their condition.
According to UNAMA, the effective participation of women in all fields is urgently needed.
Meanwhile, the Taliban’s restrictions continue, depriving Afghan women and girls of their basic rights, such as access to education and employment.
Despite widespread international condemnations, the group’s bans and restrictions against women remain firmly in place.
