U.S. suspends aid to 300,000 children in Afghanistan deprived of education

Jumhuri Mudara: The International Rescue Committee (IRC) has expressed  concern over the reduction in US financial aid to Afghanistan, saying that as a result of the  US move to cut off financial aid to Afghanistan, 300,000 children have been deprived of access to education.

The committee said in a report on Friday (April 25) that the restrictions imposed by the Taliban on women and girls have had a detrimental impact on families.

The International Rescue Committee report said that in areas that lacked schools, the organization implemented community-based education programs, but these programs were halted in 2025 due to budget cuts, as a result of which hundreds of thousands of children have been deprived of education.

The International Rescue Committee stressed that the reduction in US financial aid has pushed families in Afghanistan further towards crisis.

This  comes as the reduction in international aid to Afghanistan has put many aid organizations on the verge of closure.

As the  United States suspends financial aid to Afghanistan, international organizations have warned that this move will prevent thousands of families in the country from accessing humanitarian aid.
